CDCP Renewal:
What You Need to Know for the 2026–2027 Benefit Year
Are you currently covered under the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)? To maintain your dental coverage, you must renew your plan every year. The Government of Canada is reassessing CDCP eligibility to ensure individuals continue to meet all the necessary requirements to remain covered for the upcoming benefit year.
Before you can renew your CDCP coverage, you must complete your 2025 income tax return and receive your Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Renewal eligibility and co-payment levels are based on your 2025 adjusted family net income, making this a critical first step to avoid any interruptions in your benefits.
The annual renewal window is open from April 15 until June 1, 2026. To maintain seamless coverage, make sure your renewal is completed before the deadline. Any dental expenses incurred during a gap in coverage will not be covered or retroactively reimbursed.
To confirm or update your status online (via My Service Canada Account) or by phone, you will need to provide the following information for yourself, your spouse/partner, and any dependants:
- Social Insurance Number (SIN) — or full name and date of birth if a child does not have a SIN
- CDCP Member ID (Client Number / Application Code)
- Full Name and Date of Birth
- Mailing and Home Address
- A list of dental coverage through government social programs (if applicable)
Note: You must also officially attest that you still do not have access to private dental insurance.
Upon completing the renewal process, your information will be verified. Your coverage for the new benefit year will run from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. You can check your updated status, view your CDCP letters, and review co-payment details directly through your My Service Canada Account (MSCA).
If you do not complete your renewal by June 1, 2026, or no longer meet the eligibility criteria, your current CDCP coverage will officially end on June 30, 2026. If you miss the deadline, you cannot do a late renewal; you will be required to submit a completely new application once the general application period reopens on June 2, 2026, resulting in a temporary gap in your coverage.
